Why this module matters

Learning that helps staff decide what to do next.

Professional conduct, boundaries, dual relationships and safe practice in frontline roles.

Dragonfly modules are designed for people supporting children, adults and vulnerable communities. The goal is not simply to pass a quiz. The goal is to build the language, confidence and professional judgement needed in real practice.

Learning outcomes

  • Recognise why Safer Working Practice & Professional Boundaries matters in frontline practice.
  • Apply the learning to realistic decisions, not just knowledge recall.
  • Identify common mis-steps and safer professional responses.
  • Use structured reflection to connect the module to real work.
Professional judgement assessment preview

A staff member receives repeated personal messages from a young person outside agreed channels. The messages are not abusive, but they feel increasingly dependent. What should the learner practise?

A. Do not respond privately; preserve the messages, record the concern, follow communication policy and seek safeguarding/line-manager advice.
B. Reply warmly so the young person does not feel rejected, then gradually redirect them back to the proper channel later.
C. Delete the messages to avoid creating a bigger issue, because no harm has happened and the young person may be embarrassed.
D. Tell another colleague informally but avoid recording it unless the young person sends something explicitly sexual or threatening.

Preferred answer: A. Safer working practice protects both the young person and the practitioner through transparency, records, boundaries and early advice.

Assessment design: Dragonfly uses sample scenarios with plausible distractors, balanced answer lengths and deliberate complexity checks so staff have to read carefully rather than guess the longest or most detailed option.
